In the bright light of day our loved ones go about their normal rituals, working and embracing life, but a peek into a medicine cabinet shows a worrying assortment of drugs. One bottle is designed to defuse debilitating anxiety disorders while the next aids in sleep or the treatment of depression. Each tiny pharmaceutical pill delivers a necessary shot of mind-balancing chemicals, but another perspective might say many of these pills are crutches. But crutch or not, depression and other mental illnesses haunt us, and they must be combated.
