Facebook User is Trying to Prevent Drug Deaths by Telling His Story
Jordan Blackburn, Christ Pay, and some of their friends thought they were having a great weekend at the Britain’s Kendal Calling festival on July 31. They had no clue the horrible events that they were about to face. This is why Jordan Blackburn is on a mission to use Facebook to tell his story and share his horrifying picture in an effort to prevent drug deaths.
Jordan Blackburn, who is only 20 years old, was just having a great time with his friends at a festival, like so many others do. Jordan and his friends decided to take some pills at this festival, thinking that everyone else does it so they would too. What’s the harm right? Everyone just wants to have fun. Like so many before Jordan and his friends, the did not believe that anything bad could ever happen to them, but it did.
Jordan stated that he took several tablets during festival. We do not know how many pills his friends took. What Jordan thought was going to be fun turned into something terrible when he was placed in a medically-induced coma. Jordan was placed in a coma after becoming very ill from the pills he took. That is when the horrible picture of him laying in a hospital bed, in a coma was taken. Jordan is now using this picture to try and prevent drug deaths. He is sharing this picture in hopes that people will not be so naive as he and his friends were.
While Jordan is now out of his coma and recovering at home, his friend Christian Pay was not as lucky. Christian died in the hospital while being treated for the effects of the pills he took. What started out as a weekend of fun, turned into one friend dead and another in a coma. This is why Jordan wants to spread his picture and message across Facebook, in order to prevent drug deaths.
Jordan posted his picture in the hospital with this message, “Many lives over the weekend, not just those lost, but the families of those involved have been destroyed, including my own by the careless use of uppers at festivals, or any other time for that matter.†Jordan continues on, “I really think I need to raise awareness and show people what the consequences are just off a little pill.†The message continues, “I’m not telling people to like or share this post, just please read and think hard about what you’re putting in your body, or at least know what you’re putting in your body.†Jordan explains, “I’ve been lucky enough to have a second chance at life and I’m clinging to every part for me and Chris, so the most i can do is let people know the consequences they put themselves in and their family.†He concludes with these parting words, “Please be careful guys and share if you can just to let others know. Miss you mate, I’ll make you proud.â€
