Signs of Alcohol Use
There are often signs that show that a loved one may be using the popular drug, alcohol. While the most common telltale signs include smell of alcohol on the breath or on clothing, slurred speech, lack of coordination, and bloodshot eyes, other behaviors may signal alcohol use as well. Some of these changes in behavior that may occur due to alcohol use include neglecting responsibilities, going out more frequently, changing friends, engaging in high-risk behaviors, and avoiding previously enjoyed activities. Your loved one may begin to neglect their appearance, become irritable or defensive, or have trouble with mood swings, difficulty concentrating, or trouble with memory. Lack of energy can also signal alcohol use. Because alcohol can damage the body and lead to many long-term health issues, it is important to get help quickly to reduce long-term damage.
