Mistaken FedEx Package Delivery Leads to Huge Houston Drug Bust
It happens to everyone. We order something online and play the waiting game. It finally arrives and you rip into the package to get your item. There is only one problem. The package is not yours. FedEx has delivered the wrong package to the wrong address. This is precisely what happened in Houston. The wrong packaged delivered leads to a huge Houston drug bust.
A neighbor of Michael Taylor, Stephanie Adams, and Leslie Peck, received their incorrectly addressed FedEx package of cocaine, methamphetamine and heroin. The neighbor then reported this package to the Houston police. The police then started an investigation into the matter. When the police made their arrest, over $100,000 worth of drugs was found at the house. Besides the large amount of drugs found, they also found a large amount of weapons and over $6,000 in cash.
Another heartbreaking side to this story is something else they found. They found Stephanie Adams’ 5 year old daughter living in the drug house with them. The little girl was asleep in the next room, while her mother was doing meth, when the raid took place. The girl is now in child protective services. The Houston police were shocked by the amount and variety of drug at the scene. Police stated there was also prescription drugs used to treat cancer patients at the house. They believe these drugs were stolen from a pharmacy.
This event could not help with FedEx’s appearance right now. FedEx is currently under fire for a similar subject. In July the FedEx was indicted by the federal government for shipping prescription drugs and other controlled substances for online pharmacies. These pharmacies are illegal. FedEx pled not guilty. If FedEx loses this case, they could lose millions of dollars. You think being under this sort of pressure, FedEx would implement a strict scanning process. This event will not help their case. UPS settled a similar case, costing them around 40 million dollars.
This huge Houston drug bust has also stirred controversy on the message boards everywhere. Can you guess why? Opening a package or mail that is not yours is illegal. A huge drug bust, a 5 year old girl living in a drug house, and this is what stirs everyone into a frenzy. Message boards everywhere are in a heated debate on whether or not the neighbor who opened the package was in the wrong. Some are stating it is a felony to open mail that is not yours, while others are stating it is only a felony if it is the United Postal Service mail. Others are stating it was address to the neighbor, therefore not illegal. Either way this neighbor help secure a huge drug bust. Not only that, this neighbor helped save a little girl living in a drug house. Does that not count for anything? This neighbor did an outstanding deed. They should be awarded for their assistance.
