Drunk Driving Shakes Up Dwayne Johnson and His Family

When the Dwayne Johnson’s mother and cousin were struck, they were on their way back from a fundraising banquet in Mineola to have dinner at another restaurant in order to spend time together as a family. Lina Faneone, the cousin suffered a broken collar bone for which she had to have surgery. Ata Johnson suffered a broken arm, bruised lungs and chest. The family was released from the hospital on August 12th and even though they’re still shaken up emotionally, for the most part, they are glad to have survived and that the situation wasn’t any more serious than it was.

According to DrunkandDriving.org, Florida is actually one of the 10 states that has the second lowest DUI arrests of an average of only 23-38 per 1,000 of the residency population. Nationally, around 12,000 people are killed every year by drunk driving and around 900,000 of the DUI arrests made are repeat offenders. Even without a crash, DUI’s are very expensive ranging in a total from $7,000-$20,000 and that covers court costs, fines and other penalties. If you do have a crash, not only could you take a life but if you injure the other party, the other party could also press charges and make a lawsuit against you to compensate for their suffering.

The Rock’s family is indeed very lucky because both could easily be dead by now. It should serve as a warning that not every drunk driver is so lucky.
