- Substance use counseling approach. This short-term treatment involves encouraging individuals to openly discuss their personal experiences which leads to greater self-awareness and an enhanced ability to work through relationship issues.

- Community reinforcement plus vouchers. Helps patients work on improving family relations while also ungoing vocational training and other skills training that are crucial to maintaining abstinence. Participants receive incentives such as vouchers that can be exchanged for retail items.
