Real World Member Ryan Knight Dies at 29, Drinking on Black Wednesday
Ryan Knight, also known as Knight was found dead Thanksgiving morning, at his friend’s house. Real World member Ryan Knight appeared on the 2010 “Real World New Orleans†season. Knight also appeared on “The Challengeâ€. On both shows Knight came across as a party animal that said and did some questionable things. In the theme of all “Real World†shows drinking is always a huge factor and Knight is not shy away from the alcohol.
Knight was found dead from apparently choking on his own vomit. Toxicology reports have not been released yet, but heavy drinking seems to be the main factor in his death. Black Wednesday is the new holiday that was made up, to encourage people to go on an all night drinking binge before Thanksgiving and Black Friday happen. Reports state that people around Knight saw him taking pills, but do not know what kind they were. No drugs were found at the scene.
Knight’s father reported that his son had been complaining about stomach pain for 2 days prior to his death. If you were having stomach pain for the past 2 days, would you think that binge drinking would help your situation? This might just be a father not wanting to face the facts, but maybe it isn’t. Maybe Knight really did have something wrong. We will have to wait for the toxicology report to find out. Regardless of the outcome, it does not change the fact that we have lost another person too soon. At just 29 years old, Knight is no longer with us.
Another heartbreaking side to this story is that just 2 weeks prior to Knight’s death, The Real World family lost another member. Diem Brown died at the age of 32, to a long battle with ovarian cancer. Diem was on many Real World challenges during her battle with cancer. She was also on “The Challenge†with Knight. Knight posted a very heartfelt message to her on Twitter the day before her funeral stating, “A funeral for an Angel tomorrow. She’ll fly the highest and shine the brightest. And without a doubt she’ll be dancing over us. Love Ya DBâ€. This message is in memory of Diem and her love for dance. Diem aspired to train in dance and did for some time.
This message shows just how fragile life is. Two weeks prior to Knight’s own death, he was mourning the loss of a former cast member and friend and now we are left to mourn for him. Both of these people were taken far too soon. Two days prior to Knight’s death he posted an interesting message on Twitter stating, “Have the type of life, that when you die no one will dare say, ‘he left us for a better place.’†This message certainly raises some concern in some people. Did he know something was going to happen or did he have the death of Diem in his mind?
