Texas Drug Rehab Info

Texas is nicknamed the "Lone Star" state. The state is full of resources such as oil, cattle, sheep and cotton and is very industrial. Texas is the second largest state in America. Its state parks, recreational areas and resort areas make it a popular tourist attraction. Places like the Gulf Coast, the Lyndon B. Johnson Space Center, and the Alamo all attract millions of visitors annually. Texas also attract many different types of drugs and alcohol that are causing a serious issue in the state.

A large percentage of the drugs smuggled into America go through Texas. Methamphetamine, cocaine, heroin, and marijuana are transported into Texas in large quantities from Mexico. The transported drugs are either distributed throughout the state or shipped to drug markets in different states. A few other types of illegal drugs for use in the state are also brought into Texas from Mexico. There is a much larger amount of drugs transported into the state than actually abused. There is an abundant amount of methamphetamine, cocaine, heroin, marijuana, and a few other drugs that are consumed throughout the state, though.

High purity methamphetamine is widely-available at low prices in most areas of Texas. It is the most prevalent in the rural areas of the state. Methamphetamine smuggled into the state from Mexico is the most common, but locally produced methamphetamine can also be found in some areas. The increasing number of methamphetamine lab seizures shows that there are more methamphetamine labs in Texas than in the past. The majority of meth labs are run by Caucasian criminal groups and independent Caucasian drug distributors. Motorcycle gangs and Mexican criminal groups are also responsible for some of the methamphetamine production in the state of Texas.

Cocaine is another popular drug in the state. Powdered and crack cocaine are both available in Texas, but crack cocaine is the dominant drug in the larger cities such as Dallas, Houston, and San Antonio. Like methamphetamine, a large percent of cocaine distribution and transportation is controlled my Mexican drug trafficking organizations and criminal groups.

Heroin is a significant threat to the state as well. Mexican black tar and Mexican brown heroin are the most widely-available types of heroin in Texas. In some areas, though, South American, Southeast Asian, and Southwest Asian heroin can also be found. The majority of the heroin abused in Texas is distributed by a few different criminal groups. However, almost all of the Mexican black tar and Mexican brown heroin is controlled by Mexican drug trafficking organizations.

Marijuana can also be found throughout Texas. Marijuana made in Mexico is the most common, but marijuana produced in the state itself can also be found. Caucasian criminal groups are in control of the marijuana production in the eastern and northern parts of Texas. Marijuana is most often smuggled into Texas from Mexico and distributed to Texans by Mexican drug organizations. In addition to independent dealers and different gangs, Caucasian, African American, Colombian, and Jamaican criminal groups are also responsible for much of the marijuana sold at the wholesale level throughout the state.
